Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf voices concerns about his Palestinian in-laws being stranded in Gaza while the Israeli military tightens control over Hamas-run region following a violent terrorist attack

Scotland’s First Minister, Humza Yousaf, expressed concern over his parents-in-law being trapped in Gaza due to the Israeli military’s actions. Elizabeth and Maged El-Nakla, who live in Dundee, were visiting family in Gaza when a surprise attack by Hamas on Israel occurred. The Israeli Defence Force has now laid siege to Gaza, and Mr. Yousaf is unsure if his parents-in-law will make it through the night. Despite efforts by the British Foreign Office, there is no guarantee of their safe passage. Mr. Yousaf also condemned the Hamas attack. The situation has left him and his wife unable to sleep due to worry. Israel’s Defence Forces aim to remove Hamas from power in Palestine, resulting in numerous casualties and the destruction of buildings. The Israeli Air Force has conducted airstrikes and targeted various locations. The Israeli Defence Minister has announced plans to cut off electricity and block the entry of food and fuel into Gaza. This will exacerbate the dire conditions for the Palestinian population living in the region.
