Spectacular Turnout! Enthusiasts Unite for Suffolk’s Largest Sausage Dog Walk across Coastal Promenade

Dachshund enthusiasts were in for a special treat as around a thousand of these adorable dogs and their owners gathered for the world’s largest sausage dog gathering. The event took place at Southwold’s harbour in Suffolk. The morning started with a meet-up and was followed by a sunny stroll along the town’s Pier. The walk was organized by Laura Baggott, a 32-year-old eyebrow tattoo artist from Leiston, Suffolk, who owns three dachshunds. The first walk was organized through Facebook in 2017 and had a turnout of just 150 dogs. Since then, the event has grown in popularity, with last year’s gathering breaking an unofficial world record with 2,238 dachshunds in attendance. However, this year’s walk had to be scaled back due to a council ruling that required a £1,000 license for erecting a stage for live music. The event aims to raise awareness and funds to combat Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a common condition in dachshunds due to their long bodies. Despite the changes, participants thoroughly enjoyed the day, socializing with other dachshund owners and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of the event. The love for dachshunds was evident, with owners expressing their admiration for the breed’s fantastic traits, such as their communication skills and affectionate nature. The event was a testament to the joy and companionship that these little dogs bring to their owners’ lives.
