SEC Clash: Alabama Football and Texas A&M Welcome Back Key Playmakers

Multiple outlets have reported that linebacker Deontae Lawson will return after suffering an ankle sprain two weeks ago. Lawson is the signal-caller for the No. 10 Crimson Tide (4-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference). The Aggies (4-1, 2-0) are also getting back sophomore wide receiver Noah Thomas. ESPN’s Chris Low posted the injury updates on social media.

On Wednesday, UA head coach Nick Saban said both Lawson and offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson were able to practice. Alabama handled their absences in its 40-17 win over Mississippi State last weekend. Jihaad Campbell and Trezmen Marshall filled in at linebacker as the Tide forced three turnovers. Alabama allowed four sacks but the line had “one of their better games.”

Lawson is sixth on Alabama with 26 total tackles. He also has two quarterback hurries and a pair of sacks. Thomas has made 11 catches this year in four games with 118 total yards and four touchdowns for the Aggies.

Alabama and Texas A&M kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
