Suspect sought after businesses targeted

Law enforcement in Washington, D.C. is seeking a suspect who they believe either detonated or threw explosive devices at three different businesses in the nation’s capital within the span of minutes Sunday morning.

The attacks happened just 15 minutes apart on the northeast side of the district and began at 4:30 a.m. when a suspect detonated an explosive device on the sidewalk outside of Truist Bank located on Washington Place, according to a media release from the Metropolitan Police Department. Six minutes later, another explosive device detonated on the sidewalk in front of the doors at the Nike store on H Street, police said.

The final attack occurred at 4:45 a.m. when a suspect threw a “Molotov cocktail style object” at the Safeway grocery store located on 40th Street, police said.
