Saudi Arabia has once again surprised the world and it did so with the presentation of The Mukaabhis architectural project that will be, due to its size and investment, the benchmark for Riyadh, the capital of this nation.

A few weeks ago, Mohammad bin Salmán, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and president of New Murabba Development Company, presented the project that will become the modern building largest in the world, in line with the 2030 vision of Riyadh’s development.

The Mukaab will be part of the project New Murabbawhich will be a space for various purposes and that will be developed based on sustainability, with green areas and paths for walking and biking, in addition to having an iconic museum, a university of technology and design, an immersive theater of multiple uses and more than 80 places of entertainment and culture.

“The project will be located at the intersection of King Salman and King Khalid roads in northwest Riyadh, in an area of ​​19 square kilometers, to accommodate hundreds of thousands of residents.”

But what will it offer?

According to what was announced by Bin Salmán, New Murabba will be a space for different purposes, for which the following is contemplated:

• 25 million square meters (m2) of constructed area.
• 104,000 residential units.
• 9,000 hotel rooms.
• 980,000 m2 of commercial area.
• 1.4 million m2 of office space.
• 1.8 million m2 of space dedicated to community facilities.

Design

As reported, the design of The Mukaab It includes one-of-a-kind facilities and will be one of the largest built structures in the world, as it will be 400 meters high, 400 meters wide and 400 meters long.

“The cubic shape of the Muqaab It will ensure maximum use of space to accommodate the technologies necessary to develop the icon”, it was explained during the presentation of the project.

Inspired by the Arabic architectural style, the Muqaab It will be the first immersive destination in the world that will offer an experience created by digital and virtual technology.

As planned, this project is expected to be the spearhead to unlock the capacities of promising sectors, enable private investment and contribute to the development of real estate projects, in order to diversify the sources of income for the economy of Saudi Arabia.

The project is expected to be completed in 2030.
