The Secretary of Promotion and Economic Development of the Government of the State of Guerrero, Teodora Ramírez, pointed out that the convention will allow access to technology and innovations for the mining-metallurgical industry.

The president of the Camimex Legal Commission, Jimena Valverde, indicated that the convention allows knowing the relevance of mining for the economic reactivation of the country.

The president of the national board of directors of the Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico (AIMMGM), the engineer Luis Humberto Vázquez San Miguel, announced the official launch of the XXXV International Mining Convention, to be held from October 24 to 27, 2023, in the port of Acapulco, Guerrero.

The event will bring together miners, authorities, students, communities, consultants and people linked to the mining-metallurgical industry to demonstrate the importance of this industry, which is a link in all production chains.

The Secretary of Promotion and Economic Development of the Government of the State of Guerrero, Teodora Ramírez Vega, assured that the XXXV International Mining Convention is one of the most important events in this sector in the world.

Ramírez Vega specified that the convention allows learning about the development of sustainable mining, for which it is necessary to have access to the technology and essential innovations that will be presented at the great event.

Humberto Vázquez San Miguel explained that the International Mining Convention represents a showcase of knowledge, exchange, exhibition of advances in the industry and a space for the definition of programs and strategies to continue strengthening the sector; to practice mining with less impact on the environment; more respectful of the communities and more responsible with the safety and health of those who collaborate in the sector.

“It is a space for reflection and camaraderie where we interact with speakers and specialists from the industry, public sector authorities, professionals linked to Earth Sciences, mining suppliers, businessmen and university students,” he said.

The convention, he said, offers the opportunity for the collaborators of this industry to evaluate the situation and the immediate future of Mexican mining, if one takes into consideration that the sector’s investment totaled 4,246 million dollars in 2021, a figure that is insufficient. to generate greater dynamism in the sector and continue promoting the country’s economic growth, hence the need for new concessions to develop exploration projects.

The president of the AIMMGM recalled that the Fraser Institute reveals data that shows that, despite its mining vocation, Mexico has dropped in the list of the main countries to invest in this industry, so it is necessary to promote investment, review the tax rate and generate legal certainty to promote the generation of employment, because only in this way can development and social welfare be promoted.

“Facilities must be provided for more companies to set up, so that they generate more employment and, in this way, contribute to reducing poverty, backwardness and public insecurity,” he specified.

On her occasion, the president of the Legal Commission of the Mexican Mining Chamber (Camimex), Jimena Valverde, indicated that the convention provides the opportunity to learn about the relevance of mining for the country’s economic reactivation and development, its importance in the generation of jobs and the well-being that it generates in the more than 690 communities where it carries out its productive activities.

He added that: “In the last year, mining has shown that it is standing with Mexico, being one of the most dynamic productive activities, with a growth of 7.1%.”

The general coordinator of the convention, engineer Ricardo Moreno Trouselle, commented that they estimate the presence of 10,000 people at the event and added that they are preparing a robust and selective technical program, with an exhibition of machinery and equipment, which occupies the four rooms of World Imperial with a total of 1,125 stands.

For his part, the CEO of Grupo Mundo Imperial, venue for the convention, Seyed Rezvani, promised to offer the highest level of service at the Riviera Diamante venue in Acapulco, which has a capacity of 22,500 square meters of rooms for congresses or conventions, and more than 58 rooms for business meetings.
