Throwing a Bluey Birthday Party!!

Throwing a birthday Party is always an adventure. When you’re throwing a birthday Bluey-themed birthday party, it can just as quickly be as much for the parents as it is for the kids!

For those who may not know, Bluey is an Australian children’s television show that follows the adventures of a six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey and her family and friends. The show has become incredibly popular with children and parents due to its positive messages, relatable storylines, and lovable characters.

Our family’s love of Bluey isn’t a secret, so there was never any debate when it came to themes for this year’s party. It was simply a foregone conclusion.

When you’re a fan of Bluey, such as we are, being able to find deep-cut references that we could do when it came to the food and decorations made it all the more enjoyable for us.

When planning and throwing a Bluey-themed birthday party, there are countless ideas and things to consider. Here are a few that we went with.

Invitations

Whether you’re going for a traditional print invitation or an online invite like a Facebook event, you can help your party stand out using Bluey-inspired invitations. Create a character based on your child or use characters from the show. We used the Blue-inspired character I created for my son on the party invites and the Facebook event image. I also made a sign welcoming people to the party. So “Greeney” appeared in print and digital form throughout the party.

Decorations

When it came to decorations, we went with a balloon arch in a color scheme inspired by Bluey and Bingo, along with similarly colored tablecloths and bone-shaped decorations. We also went with tent cards that we created that accompanied the different foods, snacks, and party favors that we had available.

Food and drinks

First and foremost, the most obvious thing to include is a duck cake!!

We also included what you could consider traditional Bluey-inspired foods, including “cheese and crackers,” “bum worms,” which were gummy worms, and “biscuits,” which were cookies in the shape of bones, dog paws, and the number 2. Two of my favorite deep cuts came as a card for BBQ chips that gave Honey’s quote, “They’re barbeque flavor,” and Reeses Pieces came in clutch as “chattersnax.”

Party Favors

What proved to be a roaring success at the party were the party favors, which were sticky geckos for everyone!

A Bluey-themed birthday party is a fun and creative way to celebrate your child’s special day. You can find countless ideas from others online or come up with your own ideas. You can expand on the food and decorations or include activities such as Pass the Parcel, a paw print, or a long dog scavenger hunt! (We did have a random long dog in the decorations!)

With so many ideas and resources available online, you can easily find inspiration or develop your unique ideas. By incorporating the Bluey theme throughout the party, from invitations to party favors, you can create a memorable experience for your child and their guests. Finding new and unique ways to incorporate Bluey into the birthday party was as much fun as the party itself.
