A California Christmas is a 2020 film directed by Shaun Paul Piccinino. Written by Lauren Swickard and starring Lauren Swickard, Josh Swickard, and Amanda Detmer.

It tells the story of Joseph, a wealthy businessman charmer that is on a mission to get promoted at work. He poses as a ranch hand to get a hardworking farmer, Callie, to sell her family’s farmland prior to Christmas. When he arrives, they mistake him for the new ranch hand and uses this clandestine position as a clever way to earn her trust. Joseph’s plan is to charm her into somehow selling the property, but guess he falls for her. Will Joseph be able to conceal his identity as their relationship blossoms?

This film is like any other rom-com, you know set on a farm. A big-city guy falls in love with a farm girl kinda cliché but it’s a good watch. Though, its not exactly a “Christmas” film as the title says. They’ve probably just forgotten that it was supposed to be a Christmas film! You only get to see a little bit of Christmasat the end…

Overall it’s a good film to watch, the chemistry between Josh and Lauren is amazing. And we loved to see how Leo is so much obsessed with wine. Manny a ranch hand who likes gaming is an amusing character too.

A California Christmas isn’t a Christmas film it’s a not a film you haven’t seen before but if you’re still looking forward in enjoying a cliché rom-com then go for it. It’s a watchable movie. 

Fun fact, the leads Josh Swickard and Lauren Swickard who play Joseph aka Manny, and Callie are married in real life! The chemistry between them just shows that!
