8 Ways to Solve “Can’t Connect to Camera” Error in Android

Sometimes it happens that when we try to access the Camera in our smartphones, the screen either goes blank or it automatically returns to the home screen or sometimes displays the message “Cannot connect to camera”. So, in this article, to fix this issue, we will go through a number of methods to Resolve this problem.

Method 1: Switch off Your Smartphone

Sometimes switching off your smartphone is the easiest method to resolve this issue. Just switch off your device and leave it for 10-15 minutes. This clears all the system’s Software bugs and enhances its performance. Now, switch on your device and check if the app works.

Method 2: Reboot Your Smartphone

If the first method fails, you can go a step ahead, and instead of switching off the device, restart or reboot your phone. Rebooting your device cleans the RAM and gives a smooth start to your phone. Now check the app if it works.

Method 3: Clear App Cache and App Data

One way to resolve this issue is to clear the camera app’s cache data and app data. To do this, just go to the app’s info, then go to Storage info and click on “Clear App Data” and “Clear Cache” options.

Method 4: Force Stop Your App

One more method is to force stop your app. To do this, go to your app info and click on force stop. The screen will display a warning pop-up, but you may proceed to check if this method works.

Method 5: Camera App Access Permissions

Most of the time, when we install any third-party app, it asks for system apps permissions. Due to this access permission being granted, the camera app may not respond. Just uninstall the app and wait for 5 minutes and then check if the app works.

Method 6: Check for Software Updates

Sometimes the software version of our device turns obsolete and due to this, some apps start misbehaving. To resolve this, our device needs a software update. For this, go to Settings -> Software Updates and then check for updates if available. If your device is up to date, you can try other methods mentioned here.

Method 7: Perform Factory Data Reset

This method has the most probability of resolving this issue among all the methods listed up to now. But, the only problem is that this method will lead to loss of data. So, if you don’t have any important information on your device, this method may come to your rescue. Just go to Settings -> Backup and Reset -> Erase Data.

Method 8: Visit a Repair Center

If all the above methods fail, then the only option is to take your device to a repair center and get your phone checked. The problem might exist in the hardware system of your device which may need repair.

Most probably the methods 1 to 6 mentioned above will resolve this issue, but in case the app still doesn’t respond, try out method 7, although it will lead to loss of data. Still, if the app doesn’t work, there must be some hardware issue, so it’s recommended to follow method 8 and take your smartphone to a repair center.
