During the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, many people had time to do some self-reflection, including myself.
What I discovered was that I want to start living my life and travel more.
Unfortunately, I am not able to travel at this time due to finances. However, I told myself “Wait a minute…I live in a tourist area. Los Angeles!”

Although I have been living in Southern California ever since 2006, I have not really explored my city or state.
However, all that is about to change and so, I’ve decided that I’m going to start where I am…Los Angeles…and document some of my adventures.
If you are a native of or plan to visit California, here are 25 free things to do in Los Angeles.
For the most part, the attractions on this Los Angeles bucket list are free. The only thing that you may have to pay for is parking and food if you choose to grab a bite to eat.
Also, at the time of this posting, the world is still in the middle of a pandemic. Therefore, be sure to Google information about the following attractions for any closures or time changes.

- The Rose Bowl
- The Last Bookstore
- Hollywood Sign
- Hollywood Boulevard/Hollywood Walk of Fame (you can see the Chinese Theatre along the boulevard as well)
- The Getty Center (Parking is $20)
- The Beverly Hotel
- Santa Monica Pier
- Venice Beach
- Rodeo Drive
- Walt Disney Concert Hall
- Rosie’s Dog Beach
- LACMA (free second Tuesday of every month)
- Tar Pits (the museum is free every first Tue (except July and Aug), but the Tar Pits are always free
- Natural History Museum (free every first Tue (except July and Aug))
- Huntington Library (free first Thursday of the month with advance ticket)
- California Science Center (There is a $3 service fee to get tickets online, but can get tickets free at the box office. Time slots are limited)
- MOCA Grand Ave (reserve tickets online)
- The Griffith Observatory (parking is $10 per hour, but you can hike up to the observatory for free)
- Union Station
- Shoreline Village (Long Beach, CA)
- Descanso Gardens (free every third Tuesday with advance ticket)
