Will Meghan Markle be a Bridesmaid in Priyanka Chopra and the Marriage of Nick Jonas?Meg DowellTwitter More Articles December 17, 2018 Since becoming available on Netflix, the Great British Bake Off has captivated American audiences. Because it’s so different from the reality TV we’re used to watching — and it includes both therapies and people with sweet things — seemingly, audiences can’t get enough. Here’s what viewers get for competing on The Great British Bake Off and how the judges on the series compare compensation-wise.

What’s The British Big Bake Off?

Baking spectacles are on the rise. And if you’re a fan of British TV this reality show will captivate you from the very beginning. Like shows like you don’t need to be a pro to perform on the series. The series may actually credit much of its success for the fact that the contestants are amateurs. It is not their professional experience, but their raw talent and willingness to wow the judges with their care. Those are just like us!

Do the contestants in the Great British Bake Off get paid?

Despite long hours of shooting and many more hours of practice at home, the Great British Bake Off is not paid to feature. However the huge exposure is one of the most important factors for appearing on the show. While seasoned professionals may shudder at the word a winning contestant on shows like this usually stumbles upon more opportunities than an amateur baker who never appeared on TV. The contestants became popular food writers and authors of cookbooks. And more than one of them followed up on their successes, of course, by pursuing careers as pastry chefs. It’s not unusual for athletes to kindly do the job on shows like these. But maybe you get a little something extra out of the experience when you’re in it for the love of baking and not a guaranteed cash prize!

How much is payable to the Great British Bake Off judges?

Hannah Austin Evans More Articles June 13, 2018 If a role in the entertainment industry is not getting enough credit it’s the Casting director. A movie or television show may have a great storyline and producer, but you can kiss goodbye to success if an actor isn’t right for the part. Casting directors are of course also getting things right. Would you imagine, without Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games?

Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 8/8/1148 8/8/1148 Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves Morgan Creek Casting error: selecting an overworked under-prepared actor In 1991 Kevin Costner was so successful that he could get away with just about anything — including missing his appearance as Robin Hood on an English accent. He may have been too busy with his voice teacher to perform. He had just wrapped Dances with Wolves and planned two career-defining films in JFK for the star. However, by moving on to Robin Hood, he would have done the public a favor: Prince of Thieves, who was ill-received by both audiences and critics. Robert Ebert gave the film a sad review summing up that the most depressing thing about the film is that it is supposed to be a good time for children to attend. There have been many bad casting mistakes in television and film over the years, but few are as perplexing as the appearance of Gary Oldman as a dwarf in the Tiptoes of 2003. While the film features amazing dwarf actors like Peter Dinklage and Michael J. Anderson casting directors chose Oldman as the lead betraying the cultural acceptance the film was supposed to inspire from the beginning. The film went straight to DVD after a disappointing screening at Sundance where it lingers like a stain on everyone involved’s resume. If you haven’t seen it take a minute to watch the preview — it looks seriously like a parody coming from Saturday Night Live or Family Guy but it’s 100% genuine. Next: Talented but not enough for this actress to pull off that part. 4.

Cameron Diaz as Jenny Everdeane in New York Gangs 8/8.1150 8/8.1150 Cameron Diaz as Jenny Everdeane in New York Gangs Miramax Casting error: choosing an actress who couldn’t handle such a complex task Gangs of New York is jam-packed with amazing performances by Leonardo DiCaprio Daniel Day-Lewis and Liam Neeson … and then Cameron Dia Dia is here. Her ludicrous attempt at an Irish accent distracts from any scene in which she is, while the fact that she is meant to be an audacious pickpocket just complicates things more. The movie may have won the Academy Award for Best Picture with another actress in Jenny Everdeane’s role instead of losing to Chicago. Next: The result could not be rescued by any amount of muscle. 5. Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Colin Hanks in Dexter

8/8.1152 Casting error: in the eight years he was on the air most notably Brian Moser’s Ice Truck Killer and Arthur Mitchell’s Trinity Killer, not to choose a true villain Dexter Morgan faced several evil villains. How then in seventh season did everything go so wrong? We believe it has had a lot to do with casting Colin Hanks as Travis Marshall better known as the Doomsday Killer. Like his famous father Hanks, he’s just too much of a nice guy to play an apocalyptic killer cult’s hand. Next: The casting of this adaptation damages the film industry more than it does help.

Doesn’t it?Next: This actor wasn’t the first time he bombarded a show. 8.

Keanu Reeves in Bram Stoker’s Dracula

8/8.1154 Casting error: Keanu Reeves ‘ accent Like Costner Reeves tried and failed miserably with an English accent. Bram Stoker’s Dracula was meant to be dark and spooky but it slips into comedy territory as Reeves portrays Jonathan Harker slipping in and out of his accent and desperately trying to deliver his lines with the co-stars Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder in time. Don’t like us? Check out this series of clips to see how horrible he really is. Next: The worst Bond girl of all time

8/8.1155 8/8.1155 The World Is Not Enough Eon Productions Casting mistake: lack of integrity Denise Richards has the amazing looks of a Bond girl but casting her in the 19th James Bond film as a nuclear physicist was a strange choice. No one could believe Richards was an expert in guns, and her shallow one-liners and lack of chemistry with Pierce Bronson exacerbated matters. Next: Wrong casting is worse than bad casting. 10.

John Wayne in The Conqueror

8/8.1156 Casting error: Whitewashing American film hero John Wayne is an Iowa white man — so what is he doing is playing Mongolian leader Genghis Khan in 1956 attributing the deaths to The Conqueror that they shot on the Utah nuclear test site. Next: Vince Vaughn ends up deciding to stick to acting. 11.

12. Sofia Coppola in The Godfather: Part III

8/8.1158 8/8.1158 Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone in The Godfather: Part III Paramount Pictures When Francis Ford Coppola casts into nepotism his daughter Sofia as Mary Corleone — and they were right. Sofia had no business in the film but was there with all the skill and charm of a broomstick. Want evidence? Check out the scene of her death; it is essentially a lesson on how to not behave. Next: This actor is wearing a good makeup, but that doesn’t mean he can play any part that includes face paint.

13. Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger

8/8.1159 The Lon
e Ranger Walt Disney Pictures Casting error: whitewashing When Hollywood wants an actor to wear a mad costume and a lot of makeup that they call Johnny Depp. Though working with films like Edward Scissorhands and the Caribbean franchise Pirates casting Depp as Tonto in The Lone Ranger was just plain bad. Maybe it was the fact that Depp a white man tried to play a Native American or maybe he put too much of Jack Sparrow into Tonto’s role. Either way the film is one of the greatest and most culturally insensitive failures in Hollywood. Next: Don’t sign on to a musical if you can’t sing. 14.14. Russell Crowe in Les Misà © rables

8/8.1160 8/8.1160 Russell Crowe as inspector Javert in Les Misà © rables Universal Pictures Casting error: choosing a bad singer — the three-minute solo number for a musical Crowe defended his singing as raw and genuine he also admitted that it could have been sweetened. Psycho

8/8.1163 Casting error: picking a comic actor to play a villain In 1998 Vince Vaughn was still trying to figure out who he was. He’d played a fast-talking wise man in Swingers and Rounders, but with movies like Old School and Wedding Crashers he hadn’t made it big yet. So he decided to try and play Norman Bates, the villain. His interpretation of the position is as bad as you would imagine but the worst part is how hard Vaughn is trying to pull it off. Luckily we still have the original Hitchcock to fall back on. Next: Just because Jim Carrey did it doesn’t mean it works for everyone.

8/8.1164 8/8.1164 Dr. Seuss ‘ The Cat in the Hat Imagine Entertainment Casting error: preferring needless comedy over clever casting After the popularity of Jim Carrey in 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas actor Mike Myers tried his hand to play a Dr. Seuss character in The Cat in the Hat. Big Error. What starts out as goofy and rambunctious becomes painfully irritating as the film goes on and on — and that’s saying something at just 82 minutes! Next: Looks aren’t all about casting a part. 19.

Ashton Kutcher in Jobs

8/8.1165 8/8.1166 8/8.1166 Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith Lucasfilm Ltd. Casting error: selecting an actor that fell flat All in all of the Star Wars prequels greatly disappointed viewers. We witnessed Jar Jar Binks in Episode I and just as he faded into the background and everybody breathed a big relief sigh Hayden Christensen came on screen. Christensen is probably a great guy in all honesty but if there is one part he was never meant to play it is Anakin Skywalker’s. No-one could believe that this guy would grow up to be Darth Vader with his ill-timed lines and lack of emotion. Many people today like to pretend that the Star Wars prequels never existed. “21.

Don t pretend like you didn’t smile when Lady Olenna Tyrell asked them to hush in the final of the Season 6 — we were all dying to say that. Paul Schneider in Parks and Recreation 8/8.1168 8/8.1168 The actor Paul Schneider was involved in two TV seasons which hit Parks and Recreation. NBC via Youtube Casting error: confusion over the intent of the job Now there’s a picture full of funny people — but wait. Who is that far-left guy?
