10 Stars Had The Worst Halftime Super Bowl Shows
1. New Kids on the Block 1991
This halftime show hosted New Kids on the Block at the height of their popularity. Yet just because they were well-known doesn’t mean that the Super Bowl was a good fit for their musical style and core audience. This uncomfortable display of uber-cheesy — high on the Disney — doesn’t really feel like the big game. Indeed most of them all look pretty awkward all the time.
With Wynonna Judd Clint Back Travis Tritt Tanya Tucker and others taking the stage, this Super Bowl appearance leaned heavily on the country music scene. With lots of dancers involved, the production definitely has the feel of a Super Bowl halftime show. Even with all the stars that appear, it’s far from being the most memorable or satisfying one. 3.

While John Belushi passed away several years before Dan Aykroyd brought the band back together for the misleading film Blues Brothers 2000. However, Aykroyd John Goodman and Jim Belushi John’s brother had played the Super Bowl before that film. Jim obviously doesn’t have his late brother’s stage presence and the whole project seems self-indulgent on so many ways.
Gloria Estefan Stevie Wonder and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy all take part in this halftime Super Bowl show but the star power can not save this poorly conceived “salsa and swing soul party.” These artists all deserve much better. 6.

The game itself was an outstanding performance at Super Bowl XLII, but the appearance of Tom Petty made little difference from the many half-time shows that have come before and since. It’s fun enough to talk of Petty’s time onstage without much production value but lacks the effect that such a major event deserves.

He recently launched a new, popular podcast called Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend that ought to see his online presence continued.
