Princess Dianas 1 Clear

Princess Diana’s 1 Clear Reason ‘Wanted It To Work’ Between Herself and Prince CharlesRings Paramount Paramount tried to capitalize on the popularity of their initial 6 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and only six out of 95 critics gave it a favorable review. We turn once again to Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers for the most telling criticism, who describes it as a film that “does not seem remotely interested in rousing anything in us aside from all-consuming apathy.”

11. Worst: The Great Wall Matt Damon in The Great Wall Universal Pictures What might be wrong with an action film starring Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe and directed by renowned chinese director Yimou Zhang? Apparently the answer is “everything.” Damon sports an Irish brogue that scores in a film that Film Freak Central appropriately called “gloriously fantastically dumb from beginning to end” among some of the worst fake accents of all time.

10. Worst: CHiPs

It would seem as if Hollywood had learned all the wrong lessons from a shockingly funny 21 Jump Street remake by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. If CHiPs is any indication, the prevailing opinion is that all you need to do is reboot a procedure for some 80s police and rake money. Unfortunately the people in charge forgot to write a script that was even half decent and left us with the poorly thought out garbage-fire that is the reboot of the CHiPs series. 9.

Worst: Monster Trucks

was written literally by former studio exec Adam Goodman’s four-year-old child, and suffered a whopping $115 million write-down against expected losses in the months preceding its release in theaters. Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers probably has the film’s most scathing critique when calling Monster Trucks “a mess fuelled by the crazy belief that noise and repetition that mask the lack of credible acting and FX writing.”

8. Worst: Fifty Shades Darker

Working off an already-terrible 9 percent on Rotten Tomatoes the site’s critical consensus doesn’t pull any punches: “Lacking enough chemical heat or narrative tension to satisfy the feeble Fifty Shades Darker wants to be kinky but only serves as their own form of punishment.” If that’s not the “worst 2017 movie” fodder we don’t know what it is. Best: The Lego Batman Movie Kong: Skull Island | Warner Bros. You’ll have fun in a movie all year round to justify no one. John C. Reilly is an absolute show-stealer as Samuel L. Jackson’s quasi-comedic relief is all you’d expect him to be and the scenes of the CGI monster war would make you stand out from your chair and applaud. Measure it against the three-hour grind of a remake made by Peter Jackson back in 2005 and it is night and day. 5.

Best: John Wick: Chapter 2

Talks about sequels that lived up to the promise of their first installments John Wick: Chapter 2 came onto the scene in 2017 as yet another impressive action film. In 2017, franchises like more than filled that need to reward fans with a sequel that is a complete end-to-end thrill-ride. 4.

Best: Logan

Last year Deadpool first showed that a R-rating doesn’t have to be the death kiss for a superhero movie. Throughout 2017, Logan continued the theme redefining the genre as a gritty understated family drama guided by character. With Hugh Jackman taking his final bow as Wolverine, it was a fitting final chapter for a character he’s been playing for 17 years while avoiding past X-Men movies ‘ flashy franchise look. 3.

Best: T2: Trainspotting

As a really great story, it’s not often that a sequel set over two decades after the original film manages to stand alone. That’s exactly what T2 did: Trainspotting while building on the first movie’s rich characters and in effect creating a modern stylish allegory about aging going forward and dealing with the past’s demons. It was exciting to see Director Danny Boyle reassemble the entire original cast for a touching emotional sequel effort given the amount of possible stumbling blocks. 2.

Best: Colossal

Anne Hathaway in Colossal NEON We’re not going to spoil anything by getting into details but what we’re going to say is this: how it capitalizes on its obviously insane premise is nothing short of incredible.

1. Best: Get Away

Kunis and Kutcher are pretty straightforward about their low-key lifestyle and mutual desire to stay away from much of Hollywood’s glamor and glitz. Rather the two prefer to stay home and indulge in one of their favorite culpable pleasures: the Bachelor chain.
