Two arrested in Bomet for heckling during President Ruto’s visit

Two people in Bomet have been arrested for heckling and booing during President William Ruto’s visit of the County last week on Saturday.

Confirming the news was Bomet County Commissioner Ahmed Omar who said that the suspects were arrested after they were flushed out of their hideout.

Omar continued by saying that the search for other suspects is underway and that the arrest will not spare anyone including leaders who will be linked to the incident.

“We are not sparing anyone on this. The Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki was clear concerning the financiers and politicians who orchestrated the ugly scene, we are summoning even elected leaders so long as they are suspected to be part of the organizers” he said

The news follows heckles during the President’s visit targeting the county Governor Hillary Barchok who was denied an opportunity to address the people.

President William Ruto was agitated by the move as his Deputy called on restrain calling on residents to resort to such behaviour atleast when the Head of State has left.

Interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki has also condemned the behaviour and promised the arrest of those who will be caught engaging in it.
