DP Rigathi Gachagua has been sued by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) and Muslim for Human Rights (MUHURI) over corruption allegations he levelled against Lady Justice Esther Maina.

According to the two right groups the statement by the Deputy President has caused ridicule to the Judiciary thus the need for the second in command to apologize.

They continued by saying that such utterances could cause anarchy and make the public also lose confidence in the country’s court. They have now called on DP Gachagua to publish a public apology through two newspapers within the next 14 days.

“A declaration that his utterances being unsubstantiated claims of corruption, constitute a threat to the personam of justice Maina,” read the petition

Mentioned as respondents to the case is the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Attorney General.
