High Court dismisses case challenging the affordable housing bill

The High Court has on Monday dismissed a case challenging the implementation of the Affordable Housing Bill 2023.

The court was responding to a case filled by a Lawrence Opiuo, a Kisumu-based activist who noted that the National Assembly was fast tracking its implementation in total disregard of the public participation.

On its part, the High Court noted that it will not interfere with the activities of the National Assembly even after the government completed the public participation process on January 30th.

“This court finds that the public participation conducted by the national assembly was effective and conditionality compliant,” said Justice Mwanaisha Shariff

The news comes at a time when salaried Kenyans enjoyed the relief they have heard after it implementation was halted by the court. Despite cries that the cost of living is high, the government has insisted on passing it.
