Former CS Amina Mohamed’s home in Kakamega demolished

The government has on Wednesday demolished the home of former Sports CS Amina Mohamed in Kakamega County.

The demolition of the houses occurred despite court orders blocking the exercise that was backed up LSK affecting many residents of Milimani area.

As the exercise continued, some residents praised the move saying the construction of Affordable Housing projects will create job opportunities that they will benefit from as confirmed by the government.

  • Bamburi Cement shut down temporarily over coal dust dumping
  • Three arrested as 196kgs of bhang seized in Samburu

“I’d like to thank the government for the job it is doing. Were it not for the demos, we wouldn’t have gotten something to eat today. Youth are financially benefiting by participating in the demolitions,” said one of the residents.

On September 1st, the process of reclaiming the land began officially as those occupying it issued with a notice to vacate as at the end of November 2023 when the exercise officially kicked off.

The news comes at a time when President William Ruto vowed that no one will stop the continuation and initiation of his projects saying that they are meant to benefit Kenyans.
