Governor Anne Waiguru re-elected CoG chairperson

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has been re-elected as the chairperson of the Council of Governors (CoG) and will serve for the second term.

The decision was made during a full Governors meeting held in Nairobi where it was also decided that Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi will also serve his second term as the Deputy Cheirperson.

Through a statement, Waiguru welcomed the news as she congratulated her Wajir counterpart and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang who was elected as the whip.

“Today we had a full Council of Governors meeting where we reflected on the past year and through consensus elected Kenya Governors leadership. I sincerely thank my colleagues for unanimously Re-electing me as the Chair, It is an honour to serve for a second term.

I also congratulate my Vice Chair HE Ahmed Jiir and Whip Arap Sang in the Executive & all the committee chairs. Onward, Upward and Forward for devolution.” said Waiguru

Waiguru who came into office as the chair of CoG in September 2022 has played an integral role in ensuring that county funds are dispersed in time thus timely delivery of services.

““With the continued need to deliver effective and efficient services to Kenyans, County Governments are committed to deliver on their mandate in a focused and coordinated manner.

We endeavor to continue harnessing potential opportunities for prosperity to ensure citizens access timely and quality services in all the devolved sectors,” said Waiguru
