The Ministry of Health (MOH) through the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has recalled Paracetamol oral solution Tamedol due to health concerns.
Through a statement, PPB noted that the drug packed in 120mg/5m1 and 60 mls should seize it distribution in the market as it did not meet the market authorization from the board.
Health facilities, professionals and members of the public have since been warned against the distribution and use of Tamedol and those in the market should be returned to the nearest health facility.

“STOP all further distribution, sale, issuing, or use of Tamedol oral solution. Members of the public are urged to return the product to their nearest healthcare facility, while healthcare facilities are instructed to return the products to their respective suppliers,” said PPB
The statement continues by revealing that the drug had been imported into the country through improper channels thus the need to seize its distribution.
“”In light of these concerns, the PPB initiated preliminary investigations, which revealed that the affected product batches had infiltrated the market illegally, having been imported and distributed through unauthorized and illegal supply chains,” said the statement.
PPB also warned against the use an distribution of Visipaque (Iodixanol) 320mg/mL Vials in the country.
“Warning on Suspected Substandard & Falsified (SF) Radio Contrast Media – Visipaque (Iodixanol) 320mg/mL Vials. Healthcare facilities, please quarantine these batches and contact ppb Kenya. DO NOT use or distribute these products. Legal action will be taken. Stay safe!” read the statement
