KMPDU to stage a nationwide go-slow next week Tuesday

The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) has confirmed a nationwide go-slow exercise next week Tuesday.

Issuing the notice was KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah who issued a notice to police officers at Kilimani Police Station, Capitol Police Station and the Regional Police commander on their demonstration so as to provide adequate security.

“This is to notify you that doctors (consultants, medical practitioners, pharmacists, dentists, registrars, interns, and medical students) in Kenya will be holding a peaceful procession on Tuesday 12th September 2023 at 10:00am to deliver a petition on the state of Healthcare in Kenya,” said KMPDU

Dr. Davji Atellah noted that the demonstration is caused by unemployment and underemployment affecting the medical fraternity.

“There are unprecedented shortages of doctors and healthcare workers in the hospital amidst unemployment and underemployment crisis in both public and private hospitals.” they said

They will issue a petition to both the ministry of health and council of governors during their march will kick off from Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

“The procession will be from Kenyatta National Hospital to the Ministry of Health and end at the Council of Governors (COG). We are requesting your security during this procession.” they said
