Azimio MPs stage walkout from Parliament during Budget reading

Members of Parliament (MPs) allied to Azmio staged a walkout from the Parliament chamber as Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u presented the 2023/24 budget.

The MPs staged the walkout immediately after the Treasury CS opened his remarks stating that it was the first budget under the Kenya Kwanza Administration.

Proceeding in Parliament came to a standstill as the house paved the way for the Legislators to calm down before the CS was allowed to continue.

Speaking outside Parliament, the MPs noted that they will not be part of the budget which they claim will further hike the cost of living in the country.

The Legislators also accused the government of inflating the figures so as to benefit them when Kenyans are suffering to feed themselves and their family.

Azimio has been critical of the Kenya Kwanza administration accusing them of failing to lower the cost of living but instead imposing more taxes on the already suffering citizens.

This follows Wednesday’s Finance 2023 Bill which sailed through Parliament after 176 MPs voted in support against 81 who rejected it.
