Former CJ David Maraga appointed to chair police reforms taskforce

President William Ruto has appointed former Chief Justice David Maraga to chair a 23-member taskforce to oversee he improvement of reforms for members of the National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service.

Through a gazette notice dated 21st December, President William Ruto noted that as government there is need to improve the working conditions of police officers so as to enable them to execute their mandate effectively.

President Ruto continued by emphasizing the need to solve the ongoing welfare challenges affecting the National Police Service and the Kenya Prisons Service.

The taskforce will look into the existing terms and conditions in the police sector and recommend the terms to be reviewed in addition to matters to be considered to improve their welfare.

Other than the former CJ, other members of the taskforce include Moffat Muriithi Kangi, John Ole Moyaki, Ibrahim Jillo Guyo, Richard Kirundi, Elizabeth Mueni, Roseline Odede, Joash Odhiambo Dache, Doreen Muthaura, Albert Mwenda, Terry Chebet Maina, Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, Simiyu Werunga, Mutuma Ruteere, Anne Ireri, Stephen Kayongo, Jafaar Mohamed and Sammy Chepkwony.
