Prof. Paul Wainaina has been reinstated as the Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University putting to an end a strong legal battle.
Speaking after the news, Wainaina revealed that he will be handling the same issues that saw him exit the institution unceremoniously. “I’m back and we will handle the issues that made me go away,” said the Professor.
Accompanying the Professor back to the University, were hundreds of students and officials who have always stood by him during the period.

Back in July, Prof. Wainaina fell out with the government over the division of the institution’s land to pave way for the construction of a project by World Health Organization.
The stand-off saw the Vice Chancellor hold the institution’s title deed and refuse to hand it over for the purpose of the project. Then President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed to deal with those behind the stand-off quickly and effectively.
Even after obtaining court orders blocking his removal, the VC was forced to step down from his position pending the determination of the case that had moved to court.
