President Ruto chairs his first Cabinet meeting at State House

President William Ruto has on Tuesday chaired his first Cabinet meeting at State House with the agenda of the meeting remaining unknown.

Those present during the meeting were Cabinet ministers appointed during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term including the like of Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Joe Mucheru.

The meeting comes at a time when Kenyans have called on President Ruto to name his cabinet and kick off normal operations of the government in each and every docket.

  • Lawyer Paul Gicheru found dead in his Karen home
  • Elizabeth Lenjo sworn in as chairperson of the Copyright Tribunal
  • Leonard Mambo Mbotela sworn in as member of National Heroes Council

Even though most of the Ministers shared moments of laughter, many of them were against the leadership of President Ruto during the campaign period and backed President Uhuru’s choice of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In his recent speech, DP Rigathi Gachagua noted that the government should bring in an Interior Minister who understands the problems surrounding the Pokot and Turkana banditry attacks.

Before Tuesday’s meeting, CS Matiang’i bid farewell to his colleagues before deactivating his Twitter account.

President Ruto has also ruled out the possibility of a handshake in his reign between him and Hon. Raila Odinga but promised to give him a good job.
