Didmus Barasa to spend the weekend at Bungoma police station

Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa is set to spend the weekend at Bungoma Police Station pending his arraignment to court on Monday.

Confirming the news was the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) who said that Noordin Haji has issued orders to investigate the murder pending tabling of evidence before the court for prosecution.

“Hon. Didmus Barasa, MP Kimilili, will spend the weekend at the Bungoma Police Station as ODPP deferred charges against him, to allow the Homicide detectives complete investigations. He will be presented in court on Monday, 15th Aug. 2022.” Said ODPP

Didmus Barasa’s arrest

The newly elected MP has gone into hiding following the alleged murder of Mr. Brian Olunga following a confrontation with his political rival in Kimilili.

Even though orders for his arrest were issued, the Legislator continued to celebrate his win on social media before he eventually surrendered. He termed the deceased a member of hit squad who was sent from Nairobi.

Earlier, he had obtained anticipatory orders from the High Court blocking his arrest pending investigations by the relevant authorities.
