The High Court has ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) to use the manual voters’ register in the August 9th elections.
Passing the ruling was Justice Thande Mugure who scrapped plans by the commission to stick with the electronic system saying the move is unconstitutional and thus not applicable come Tuesday.
IEBC has for some time now expressed confidence in the use of Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits, a question that was raised by Justice Thande who sought to understand how they will deal with instances where voters’ cannot be picked by the system.

The same question was raised by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance who called on the commission to follow the law. Kenya Kwanza had a different opinion that was in support of IEBC.
In their defense, IEBC assured Kenyans that the manual register will be available as they confirmed that all details contained in the manual register had been captured by the KIEMS kit.
