Besigye was arrested as he was heading to Kasangati town where he was going to protest against the high cost of commodities in the country.

Speaking after his arrest, the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) party leader said that he will not accept being kept behind a police vehicle and silenced in his own country.

Even though Besigye was arrested, the police did not give any reason behind his arrest even as they initially ordered him to return to his house.

The former Presidential aspirant has definitely renewed his opposition against President Museveni’s regime calling out the 77-year-old President for doing nothing to cushion citizens against the high cost of goods.

Museveni had in his earlier address to the nation ruled out slashing taxes of goods saying the move will greatly affect the country.
