Uganda’s capital Kampala hit by two explosions

Two deadly explosions have been recorded on Tuesday in Uganda’s capital Kampala at the Central Business District (CBD).

According to local media, burning vehicles could be seen outside Jubilee Insurance building located next to the country’s Parliament.

Reports indicate that a total of 23 Police Officers have sustained injuries following the attack with several other people passing away as confirmed by graphic images making rounds on social media.

“Reports indicate that at least 23 police officers have been injured in the Quarter Guard blast near Kampala Central Police Station (CPS). 15 police officers admitted to Mulago hospital. 2 suspected bomb blasts went off today near CPS & along Parliamentary Avenue” Said Observer

It is still unclear how many people have succumbed to the explosion as police officers stepped in to cordon people from accessing the area. Media personnel with valid documents were allowed in by the police.

Buildings in the area had broken glasses with those inside confirming broken doors and windows.

Sniffer dogs have also been brought in to assist in the investigations with the media confirming lifeless bodies at the scene.
