Fukushu no Wasabi (meaning “Wasabi – not a fairy tale“) is the first-ever Japanese Movie directed by Indian Movie Director Hemant Singh. The movie narrates the story of Kano, a young girl who has faced relentless bullying due to a scar on her face. The film takes us on her extraordinary journey as she discovers her hidden potential and seeks a brighter future. This movie has already created a sensation in Japan with packed shows in theaters across the country.

Hemant Singh, hailing from Uttarakhand, India, is a passionate filmmaker who has worked his way up from reality shows to feature films. His journey has taken him from Mumbai to Tokyo in 2016.
Hemant took the plunge and turned into an independent freelance filmmaker based in Tokyo in 2018. He finally achieved his dream of producing and completing his first feature film in 2023. Hemant is a passionate filmmaker driven by a deep desire to share thought-provoking stories and bring his creative visions to fruition.
Film Festivals
The film has been selected for screening at various Film Festivals worldwide, and we will update information on this as we receive it from the movie production house and the director. Capt. Raj Adhikary, President and CEO of Japan Education Center and Information (JECI) was thrilled to announce that they have secured the exclusive rights to screen the Japanese movie in India.
Further, Raj mentioned that the screening of this movie will be offered free of charge, with no financial obligations to educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, vocational institutes, educational skill centers, embassies, consulates, NGO and NPO facilities, and governmental organizations.
This initiative of Capt Adhikary reaffirms JECI’s commitment to promote interaction between the people of Japan and India through various educational initiatives, cultural bonding, business and industry cooperation”.
