OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has recently exchanged vows with his partner, Oliver Mulherin, in a serene seaside ceremony. Altman, 38, verified the news when approached by NBC News, responding to the images of the wedding circulating on social media platforms.

The heartwarming photos capture the San Francisco couple amidst palm trees, surrounded by approximately a dozen guests, at an undisclosed tropical beach location. Altman, originally from the St. Louis area, had previously maintained a low public profile while making significant strides in the tech industry as the CEO of Y Combinator, a renowned tech startup incubator and investment firm. However, with his role as CEO of OpenAI, Altman has embraced a more visible position, including testifying before Congress, earning him the title of “CEO of the Year” by Time magazine in 2023.

Altman and Mulherin, in a noteworthy social appearance last year, attended a state dinner at the White House hosted by President Joe Biden in honour of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Altman’s influence has surged as CEO of OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company behind the groundbreaking ChatGPT, which stirred the tech industry a year ago, prompting a widespread shift in resources toward competing AI projects.

In a recent milestone, OpenAI unveiled the GPT Store on Wednesday, essentially an app store tailored for AI applications. Altman co-founded OpenAI as a nonprofit organization in 2015, along with several tech luminaries, including Elon Musk. As the CEO, he has steered OpenAI into becoming one of the most sought-after startups globally. Despite a brief ousting by OpenAI’s board in November, Altman swiftly reclaimed his position after a dramatic boardroom struggle for control of the company.
