Independent National Electoral Commission [Inec] said they took out the affected names and data after their verification process and ‘’clean up’’ of their register.
INEC in a statement on Monday 12 September, asid those affected are people who registered between June 2021 and January 2022 for Permanent Voters Cards.
The electoral commission said during the eriod of registration about 2,523,458 people registered.
according to them,they discovered from records that about 1,126,359 people registration were ‘’invalid and so delisted’’.
This statistics implies that nearly half of the registrations during that period are invalid.
According to the commission, they detected ‘’double, multiple and ineligible registrants’’.
