A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has accused the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) of the police attack on the peaceful rally of the supporters of Labour Party Presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi in Abakaliki Ebonyi State.
In his official Facebook post, Mr. Nwoba wrote:
"There's what people aren't understanding: The use of Police against the Obedient march in Abakaliki today wasn't ordered for by Gov. David Umahi. Umahi is not even around. He travelled. His (APC) purported gubernatorial candidate, Francis Nwifuru is feeling that the Labour Party's governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Dr Sir Edward Okereke Nkwoagu could be gaining from the success of the march.
Both of them are from Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State. Both of them have been having running political battle since 2015. Dr Sir Edward made Francis Nwifuru a House of Assembly member in 2011 from his mere position as PDP state ex-officio. Edward who's an industrialist and has never held a political office became a soft target in that state constituency.
Obedients should view it more from this angle. The man, Francis Nwifuru is worse than David Umahi. The effort to attack the gathering is more of malice against the Labour Party's governorship candidate whom he thinks the success of the march could favour. Francis Nwifuru still carries himself as the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly. He combines that conjecture with the carriage that he's the incoming Governor who should be showing Gov. David Umahi that he has all the might needed to route out opponents ahead of the 2023 elections. He's seeing himself as governor already.
The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State is a known APC member and a plaything for Umahi and his hitmen. So long as the man remains CP in Ebonyi, he'll continue to use the police against all democratic assembly, and expressions carried out by the people of Ebonyi State and other political parties. The man needs to be transferred from Ebonyi State immediately. I have encountered his force of unprofessionalism and petty attachment to Umahi and his hitmen. All Mr Nwifuru needed to do was to tell him to send men to the venue of the assembly and do one or two things to halt the movement. The man is as unrefined as that. The Commissioner respects every order coming from the Umahi's first eleven. He doesn't care about the implications.
