What is Heyzine?

Heyzine is a powerful PDF to Flipbook converter tool yet user-friendly platform that enables users to create stunning digital flipbooks with ease.

With its intuitive interface and a wide range of customizable features, Heyzine empowers both individuals and businesses to create engaging flipbook that grabs attention and leaves a lasting impact.

Using Heyzine, you can create flipbooks with page turn effects, and include links, text, images, videos within the content.

After you create your flipbook, Heyzine allows you to share it across different platforms. You can share it as a link, or embed it on a website. You can also share it as a QR code.

If you want to protect your flipbook from unauthorized sharing, Heyzine also allows you to set password to it.

Plus, you can also track the number of visits to your flipbooks, the origin of your readers, monitor their interaction with links and media, and identify the most engaging flipbook pages.

Most importantly, Heyzine is free to use up to 5 flipbooks. Thus, you can sign up for the free plan and create flipbooks for free. Paid plan starts at $4 per month.

How to Create Flipbooks Using Heyzine?

Below is a step by step guide that I have created so that anyone including beginners can create flipbooks for themselves.

Step 1: Create Your Free Heyzine Account

To get started, visit the Heyzine website and sign up for a free account. Here is the link to the Home Page - Heyzine.

You can also sign up using your Google (Gmail) account or your other email id.

After successful sign up, you can see the screen like the screenshot given below.

Step 2: Upload Your PDF

Click on the New flipbook button and select your PDF from your computer to upload it on Heyzine.

As soon as the PDF is uploaded, Heyzine will automatically convert it into a flipbook which can be further customized from its Dashboard.

Heyzine offers a range of customization options to make your flipbook visually appealing and on-brand.

Let's see some of the customization features offered by Heyzine.

1. Title

From the Heyzine Dashboard, you can add Title, Subtitle and Description to your flipbook. You also get the option to show or hide these from the flipbook background.

To add Title and others, click on Title from the left of the Dashboard, and enter the details as shown below.

After entering all the details, click on the Save button.

Now, you'll be able to see your Title and Subtitle in the background. In case, you don't want to show them, toggle this button to Off - Show titles on the flipbook's background.

2. Page Effect

Heyzine offers eight (8) page effects that you can add to your flipbooks - magazine, book, album, notebook, slider, cards, coverflow and one page.

You can choose anyone you like as page effects and you can choose the option to add sound on page turn. 

Heyzine also offer some additional options to make your flipbook more attractive such as page depth, page shadow, page edges, rounded corners and more.

3. Background

If you want to add a background to your flipbook, it is also possible from the Heyzine Dashboard.

To add or change the default background, go to Background and select from Image, Color or Style.

Image: Under this option, you would lots of images that you can set as a background for your flipbook. Additionally, you can also search for images using the Search option. Plus, you can also upload your own images to add as a background.

Color: Here, you get 9 color options to give background effect to your flipbook.

Style: Using this option, you can set Size (cover, stretch and contain), Position (center center, top center, bottom center, top left, etc.), Transparency and Blur effect to your background.

4. Logo

While creating a flipbook under the Heyzine free plan, you would notice Heyzine logo (watermark) on your flipbook.

This means that you can't add your own logo if you're on the free plan.

To add your own brand logo, you would need to subscribe to any of the paid plans offered by Heyzine.

Since, this tutorial on how to create a flipbook for free is based on the free plan offered by Heyzine, we'll leave this section as it is and move on to the next section.

5. Controls

In the above screenshot, you can see three control buttons at the top right. You can easily customize the style and look of these buttons from the Dashboard.

Plus, you can also add additional control buttons and change alignments of these buttons to place it anywhere around the flipbook.

To add more control buttons, click on Controls from the left, 

click on Controls from the left, and choose from the following options:

• Download
• Share
• Print
• Prev/next page
• First page
• Last page

You can enable one or all the options listed here (see above screenshot).

For example, if I enable these controls - Download, Share, First Page and Last Page, the control button will look like this (see the below screenshot).

In the above screenshot, you can also see that I have also changed the alignment of these control buttons.

To change the alignment, you can go to Controls, then click on Style and under Position, you can select your preferred position. For example, in the above screenshot, I have chosen the horizontal bottom center alignment.

6. Pagination bar

Using this option, you can add page thumbnails, page numbers or both on your flipbook. To add it, go to Pagination bar and select the appropriate Bar Type from the given options.

7. Background Audio

While learning how to create a flipbook, you must understand that a good user experience can help in better engagement of your readers.

While learning about Controls, we learn that how we can add different controls to help users better navigate and share our flipbooks.

Similarly, you can also add an audio to your flipbook to make it more interesting and enjoyable.

To add an audio, you can go to Background Audio and under Library, you can upload your own audio.

If you don't have an audio, you can download one for free from sites like Pixabay.com. Pixabay offers royalty-free music that can used anywhere.

In the above screenshot, you can see that I have uploaded an audio from Library and chosen the same from the Flipbook audio option as shown.

After adding the audio, just click on Close and your flipbook will now have a background music audio which will play automatically whenever a reader flips through your flipbook.

Step 3: Share Your Flipbooks

After you've successfully created your flipbooks, Save it, and now it's time to share it with your audience.

Heyzine offers various publishing options, including sharing it as a link, embedding the flipbook on your website, sharing it via social media, or sending it as a downloadable file. Let's have a look.

1. Link: Heyzine offers an HTML link that you can share it directly with your readers via email, WhatsApp or any other medium.
2. Email/Image: Here, you get four design options for sharing via email - Cover, Cover CTA, Cover flip and Gif. You need to select the option - Copy image with link, and share it with your readers.
3. Web/Embed: If you have a website, you can also embed flipbook on your web page. You need to select the Embed iframe and copy the html code provided and paste it on your web page. Now, your visitors will be able to read through your flipbook without leaving your website.

4. Social: Using social sharing option, you can easily share your flipbooks across social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, WhatsApp, Telegram, Pinterest, Evernote, and more.

Other sharing options include Download and QR Code.
