Movie Marathon

Movie Marathon

Within Rotaract Club of SLIIT, a unique project that promised to create a lasting impression was set in motion. On September 26 and October 3, 2023, the SLIIT Main Auditorium played host to the “Movie Marathon”, an event organized by the International Service Avenue.

Cinema lovers found themselves in paradise as the “Movie Marathon” unfolded. A carefully selected list of films from across the globe came together, highlighting the unique storytelling capabilities of movies. For two whole days, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in an unparalleled cinematic experience, each frame offering a fresh perspective and a glimpse into a new world.

The two days of the movie marathon unfolded like chapters of a vibrant storybook, each sparkling with its unique blend of genres and emotions. The first day featured three captivating films that took the Audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Starting off with the multiverse-spanning adventure in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, we then journeyed  into depths of human emotions in the Japanese anime ‘A Silent Voice’. The day concluded with  the audience being awed by the real-life heroism displayed on the battlefield of ‘Shershaah’.

A whole new range of cinematic masterpieces were presented to our audience on the second day. The day kicked off with ‘I Want to Eat Your Pancreas,’ that wove a delicate tale of an unlikely friendship and then thrust the audience into an action-packed supernatural adventure with ‘Jungle Cruise,’. Day 2 of the movie marathon wrapped up with ‘Maveeran’, a historical epic about bravery and selflessness. The audience was treated to a range of feelings from empathy to excitement on the second day.

However, this event wasn’t just about entertainment; it was about making a positive impact. Every ticket purchased, every food stall visit, and every moment of shared laughter contributed to a greater cause. The funds raised during the “Movie Marathon” were directed to charitable endeavors, making a real-world difference in the lives of those in need.

When the final credits rolled, and the lights slowly brightened in the SLIIT Auditorium after 2 days of fun and enjoyment, it was clear that the “Movie Marathon” had left a lasting impression. The audience walked away with not only the memories of their favorite movies but also with uplifted spirits.

Ultimately, the “Movie Marathon” was evidence of the power of film to unite people and inspire positive change. It was a celebration of the art of filmmaking and served as a reminder that there’s always room for emotions, even in the world of entertainment. At the end, the only thought that remained was, “When’s the next ‘Movie Marathon’?”
