“They don’t know me son, Who is going to carry the boats & the logs?” Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s David Goggins! Nah, it’s not David; imagine the scenes if we did get him for a blog, though. The man at the centre of this blog is the pinnacle of comedy and seriousness. An exemplary act, a constant driving force, and practically the glue that holds this board together.
I present to you, with the heartiest of welcomes, Rtr. Themiya Alwis, Director of the IT avenue for the RI year 2023-24. A walking icon, the quality of his work is unparalleled to anything you can ever expect. His dedication to his craft is quite something to admire; it almost reminds me of something stoic. Those who know Themiya know he does not shut up about his stoic mindset.
Being the director of IT along with Rtr. Vimeth Athukorala, Themiya is at the very centre of the public image of Rotaract Club of SLIIT. He’s primarily responsible for most of the content the club publishes, other than the blogs, obviously. Is our public image in safe hands? If I speak, I am in big trouble, is all I’ll say. (Football fans, that one was for you.)
The reason behind me saying that is that the ideas that this man comes up with are on the higher end of insane. If he were released in the wild with no filter, he’d be arrested quicker than he could eat a kottu. The sadist within this man comes out whenever he is given the creative freedom to create any form of content.
Saying all this, this lunatic is arguably the funniest person on the board. As I mentioned, he’s the glue that holds us together. With his weird and whacky ideas, consistently increasing dark humour, and serotonin-inducing laughter, this year wouldn’t be this fun without him.
Themiya is not just fun and crazy; he’s a massive fitness and sports addict. From rugger to cycling, this man is the Senpai of it all. Though in the photo he may seem like a panda, given some time, he could really turn into David Goggins.
Here’s a fun story for y’all: Themiya and Rtr. Sulakna (Assistant Secretary) once stood eating chicken for around 15 minutes straight just discussing rugby, working out, types of fat, and all there is to the gym. Talk about dedication, eh? Eating protein and talking about working out.
Either way, rest assured that the public image of Rotaract Club of SLIIT is going to be the most unique it’s ever been with Themiya at the wheel. Keep your eye out for the content he makes, because it’s not one to miss!
