“Sandy cheeks work ethic + Spongebob imagination.” Considering the person who wrote this quote, this arguably has to be the most accurate quote in the history of mankind. A fierce leader when zoned in, a bubbly character when given the chance to be open.
Please welcome Rtr. Chathurya Gamage, Co-Director of Community Services for the RI Year 2023–24. Her passion and love for people and her nurturing energy are the perfect combination for her to be in the position she is. Chathurya thrives in situations where she feels like she is backed into a corner. Her “Sandy Cheeks work ethic” truly comes alive
Though her imagination might be to the degree that it leaves Spongebob in the dust, she really isn’t THAT childish (there’s a reason for this; keep reading *wink wink, nudge nudge*). Having chaired a handful of successful community service projects, Chathurya is arguably the perfect person to tag along with our defiant Rtr. Yasith.
Y’all must be wondering why I mentioned her being childish, yeah? Well, let’s just say that an ice cream is enough to get her to do anything (yeah, I know, who wouldnt do anything for an ice cream, right?) However, if she opens a conversation with, “I need a favour; I’ll give you an ice cream,” you’d better start running.
She doesn’t just have the imagination of Spongebob; she is literally the female edition of Spongebob. Head to toe, attitude to personality, she is the Sri Lankan Spongebob. Catch her at the right time, and she will literally laugh at anything. I kid you not, ANYTHING, she even giggles like him, for crying out loud.
In all seriousness, cross the line with Chathurya, and you’ll wish you never encountered her to begin with. When it comes to work, it is no understatement that her work ethic is similar to Sandy’s. Everything has to be perfect; there can literally never be a flaw in the plan. If there is, everyone should take shelter because the gates of hell are about to be let loose.
With this already star-studded board of officials, the addition of Rtr. Chathurya could not make the board for the RI Year 2023–24 any more iconic. The helm of Community Service is in your hands, Chathurya; be sure to lead by example and steer a new generation of rotaractors through community service.
