Ever wondered what the backstory of a Treasurer is? Fear not, Rotaract Club of SLIIT’s treasurer has got all the tea to spill: “Once a humble penny-pincher, soon to be the Maestro of Magnificence! Watch out, world, because this year I’m going from ’empty pockets, big dreams’ to ‘bling-bling billionaire’ faster than you can say ‘cha-ching!” 

Introducing Rtr. Onelie Wijerupa, our resident treasurer for RI Year 2023–24 Being the Director of Corporate Partnerships, it only makes sense that she is now the treasurer. Y’all in need of money? Don’t you worry; she’s got you more than covered.

Being strict with money is part of her personality, but when the occasion arises, the saying ’money doesn’t grow on trees’ ceases to exist. Trust me when I say this: Onelie is the best fit to be treasurer. With her statistical nature and strategic spending, the Rotaract Club of SLIIT’s finances could not be in safer hands.

Swiftly moving on from the corporate end of Onelie’s life, she happens to be the gift that keeps on giving. When she’s around, be ready to expect the unexpected, because anything could go down in her presence. 

I say this in the nicest possible way (Onelie, if you’re reading this, please don’t unalive me): she is kinda like a dinosaur. No, not in the sense of “Oh, she hasn’t gotten with the times.” She literally has the vibe of a dinosaur. Ever heard the saying, “If it looks like a Duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck? It probably is a duck” ? Just replace the duck with a dino and the quack with a roar, and you’ll have Onelie.

Saying all that, she is a fireball of fun. It’s never a dull moment when you’re in Onelie’s presence. Unless she’s hungry, at which point you better run. However, if you have a Snickers bar, you have nothing to worry about. You don’t even need a Snickers bar; just flash some cash, and you’re good to go.
