All of us are equal. We all have different abilities to live. The differently abled are not different from the normal. They have their own capabilities and talents to live their lives. What should be changed is the mind set of people, the way people look at people and their different capabilities.
Voice of Silence is an attempt to create the attitude and spread the message that we, despite our abilities and disabilities are equal. The only way to make this world an equal place is, to be a Voice to the voiceless. The objective of our project is to let the world hear the story of them, who live their lives peacefully in their own ways yet are differently abled and talented than the common population in the eyes of the world.
Our inability to communicate with the deaf community is our own loss. It truly doesn’t affect them or not a loss for them at all. Us not knowing the sign language do not stop them living their lives in their own ways. With or without us, they handle their daily hustles. It’s us who need to learn the sign language for us, so we can understand them, communicate with them , bring them to the light and make them feel that the world is an equal place for all human beings.
We started off the project by sparking a little curiosity among our club as well as the community. Through a Public Relations campaign, volunteers were asked to change their social media display pictures to our Project Logo, the Equality Sign denoted in Sign language and also were requested to share our project logo through their social media accounts. With a ripple effect, many in the club as well as out were inquisitive on what this sign meant and what all this was about. The next phase of the PR Campaign was requesting Rotaractors to post a photo of them doing the Equality sign. We had a large number of participants, notably the District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP Kasun Sigera as well as the Rotaract District Secretary Rtr. PP Kayalvili Mathavaram. A beautiful collage of all the participants, giving out the message “With Signs may we be Equal” to the community was created at the end of the PR campaign.
Voice of Silence is not any regular project, but it is a hope to connect people together, forgetting our disabilities by embracing our differences. It is a bridge to overcome barriers and we hope to make a change within the community so that no one no longer feel left out. The aim of the first phase of Voice of Silence is to teach the Sign Language to the community, so that we could communicate with anyone with a hearing disability. මනුශ්‍යත්වයේ නාමයෙන් අපි සැම එක සමාන වෙමු. විවිධ හැකියාවන් යොදා ගනිමින් අපි එකිනෙකාට වෙනස් ලෙස ජීවත් වන්නෙමු. සාමාන්‍ය පුද්ගලයෙකු සතු හැකියාවන් අහිමි වූ පමනින් කෙනෙකු ආබාධිත හෝ අසාමාන්‍ය නොවන බවත්, ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිත ගත කිරීම සඳහා ඔවුන්ගේම හැකියාවන් සහ කුසලතා සැමටම ඇති බවත් අප වටහා ගත යුතුය. වෙනස් කළ යුත්තේ මිනිසුන්ගේ මානසිකත්වය සහ මිනිසුන් මිනිසුන් දෙස බලන ආකාරයයි. නිදසුනක් ලෙස බිහිරි ප්‍රජාව සමඟ සන්නිවේදනය කිරීමට අපට ඇති නොහැකියාව ඔවුන්ට කිසිසේත් නොබලපාන අපේ අඩුපාඩුවකි.එහෙයින් අපි සංඥා භාෂාව ඉගෙන ගත යුත්තේ ඔවුන් උදෙසා නොව, අපේ අඩුව මකාගෙන ඔවුන් සමඟ සන්නිවේදනය කළ හැකිවීම උදෙසාය.
Voice of Silence යනු අපගේ හැකියාවන් සහ නොහැකියාවන් පරයා, අප සියල්ලෝම සමාන වන බවට ආකල්පය නිර්මාණය කර එම පණිවුඩය සමාජයේ පතුරුවා හැරීමේ උත්සාහයකි. මේ ලෝකය සමාන ස්ථානයක් බවට පත් කළ හැකි එකම ක්‍රමය නම්, හඬක් නොමැති අයට හඬක් වීමයි.අපගේ ව්‍යාපෘතියේ පරමාර්ථය වන්නේ, තමන් ලද හැකියාවෙන්, සාමකාමීව ජීවිතය ගත කරන, එහෙත් ලෝකයේ ඇස් ඉදිරිපිට, සාමාන්‍ය ජනතාවට වඩා වෙනස් හැකියාවන් සහ දක්ෂතා ඇති ඔවුන්ගේ කතාව ලෝකයට ඇසීමට ඉඩ දීමයි.
සංඥා භාෂාවෙන් දක්වා ඇති සමානාත්මතා සංඥාව භාවිතා කරමින් මහජන සම්බන්ධතා ව්‍යාපාරයක් හරහා අපගේ සමාජය හා ප්‍රජාව අතර සුළු කුතුහලයක් ඇති කරමින් අපි ව්‍යාපෘතිය ආරම්භ කළෙමු. ඉතා ඵලදායී ලෙස, අපේ අරමුණ සාක්ශාත් කරමින් අපේ රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයේ මෙන්ම පිටත ද බොහෝ දෙනෙක් මෙම සලකුණෙන් අදහස් කළේ කුමක්ද සහ සිදුවන්නේ කුමක්ද යන්න ගැන විමසිලිවන්ත වූහ. ව්‍යාපාරයේ මීළඟ අදියර වූයේ සමානාත්මතා ලකුණ පෙන්වන ඡායාරූපයක් පළ කරන ලෙස රොටරැක්ටර්වරුන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටීමයි. දිස්ත්‍රික් රොටරැක්ට් නියෝජිත Rtr. PP කසුන් සිගේරා මෙන්ම රොටරැක්ට් දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් Rtr. PP කායල්විලි මාතවරම් සහ තවත් බොහෝ රොටරැක්ටර්වරු ව්‍යාපෘතියට දායක වෙමින්, ප්‍රජාවට “සංඥා සමඟ අපි සමාන වෙමු” යන පණිවිඩය බෙදා හරින්නට අප දැරූ වෑයම සඵල කර ගැනීමට සහය වූහ.
Voice of Silence තවත් එක් හුදෙක් සමාජ සේවා ව්‍යාපෘතියක් නොවන අතර, අපගේ වෙනස්කම් වැලඳ ගනිමින් සහ සියලු දුෂ්කරතා මැඩලමින් මිනිසුන් එකට සම්බන්ධ කිරීමේ බලාපොරොත්තුවකි. එය බාධක ජය ගැනීම සඳහා පාලමක් වන අතර කිසිවෙකුත් තවදුරටත් සමාජය තුල තනි නොවිය යුතු බව වටහා දී, ප්‍රජාව තුළ ආකල්පමය වෙනසක් කිරීමට අපි බලාපොරොත්තු වෙමු. Voice of Silence පළමු අදියරෙහි අරමුණ වන්නේ ප්‍රජාවට ශ්‍රවණාබාධිත ඕනෑම අයෙකු සමඟ සන්නිවේදනය කළ හැකි වන ලෙස සංඥා භාෂාව ඉගැන්වීමයි. ඔබගේ කුතුහලයට ඉඩදී , Voice of Silence ඉදිරි ගමන ගැන දැනගන්නට අප සමග රැඳී සිටින්නට ආරාධනා කරමින් මෙතනින් නවතිමු.நாம் அனைவரும் சமம். நாம் அனைவரும் வெவ்வேறு திறன்களை கொண்டுள்ளோம். மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் நம்மிலிருந்து வேறுபட்டவர்கள் அல்ல. அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்க்கையை வாழ தங்கள் சொந்த திறன்களையும் திறமைகளையும் கொண்டுள்ளனர். மாற்றப்பட வேண்டியது மக்களின் எண்ணமாகும், மக்கள் பிறரைப் பார்க்கும் விதமும் அவர்களின் வெவ்வேறு திறன்களும் ஆகும். கேட்கும் திறனற்ற சமூகத்துடன் தொடர்பு கொள்ள இயலாதது எங்கள் சொந்த இழப்பு. இது உண்மையிலேயே அவர்களைப் பாதிக்காது அதேவேளை இது அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு இழப்பும் இல்லை. அவர்களுடன் தொடர்பு கொள்ள சைகை மொழியைக் கற்றுக் கொள்ள வேண்டியது நாம்தான்.
Voice of Silence என்பது அணுகுமுறையை உருவாக்கி, நம்முடைய திறன்களும் குறைபாடுகளும் எதுவாயினும் நாம் அனைவரும் சமம் என்ற செய்தியை பரப்புவதற்கான ஒரு முயற்சி. இந்த உலகத்தை ஒரு சமமான இடமாக மாற்றுவதற்கான ஒரே வழி, குரலற்றவர்களுக்கு குரலாக இருப்பதுதான். எங்கள் திட்டத்தின் நோக்கம், உலகத்தின் பார்வையில் வித்தியாசமாக திறமை வாய்ந்தவர்கள் தங்கள் சொந்த வழிகளில் அமைதியாக வாழ்ந்த அவர்களின் கதையை உலகம் கேட்க அனுமதிப்பது.முதல் கட்டமாக மன்ற உறுப்பினர்களிடையும் சமூகத்தினரிடையும் ஒரு சிறிய தூண்டுதலை மேற்றக்கொண்டோம். அடுத்த கட்டம் ஒரு பிரச்சாரமாகும், இங்கு ரோட்டராக்டர்கள் சமத்துவ அடையாளத்தை செய்யும் புகைப்படத்தை பகிருமாறு கேட்டுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டனர். மாவட்ட ரோட்டராக்ட் பிரதிநிதி Rtr. PP கசுன் சிகேரா மற்றும் ரோட்டராக்ட் மாவட்ட செயலாளர் Rtr. PP கயல்விழி மாதவரம் மற்றும் பல ரோட்டராக்டர்கள் சமூகத்திற்கு “சைகை மொழியினூடாக நாம் அனைவரும் சமம்” என்ற செய்தியை வழங்குவதற்கான எங்கள் நோக்கத்தை வெற்றியடையச் செய்ய எமது பிரச்சாரத்திற்கு பங்களித்தனர்.
Voice of Silence என்பது வழக்கமான திட்டம் அல்ல, ஆனால் மக்களை ஒன்றாக இணைக்க ஏற்படுத்தும் ஒரு நம்பிக்கை, எங்கள் வேறுபாடுகளைத் தழுவுவதன் மூலம் நமது குறைபாடுகளை மறந்துவிடுங்கள். Voice of Silence இன் முதல் கட்டத்தின் நோக்கம் சமூகத்திற்கு சைகை மொழியைக் கற்பிப்பதாகும், இதன்மூலம் செவித்திறன் குறைபாடுள்ள எவருடனும் தொடர்பு கொள்ள முடியும். மேலும் அறிய எம்முடன் தொடர்ந்தும் இணைந்திருங்கள்.
