Tips To Store Sarees In A Wardrobe Or Closet

The more organized you are, the lesser time will you take for dressing up for occasions and social gatherings, remember that! So, here are some time-saving ways to store sarees.

a.      Always keep Silk Sarees wrapped in a muslin cloth: If your wardrobe contains lots of Silk sarees, never hang them on hangers uncovered. It can hamper silk sarees in two ways. First, the dirt or dust tend to gather on silk sarees, and so the zari work starts looking soiled. Secondly, keeping sarees organized in a single style in a hung manner can cause permanent creases. Sometimes, on these folds, sarees may get cut along these folds. Also, these are not so easy to iron out and look very awkward when worn.

So, if you want to learn how to store sareesmade of silk, the best tip is to keep them wrapped in a muslin or cotton cloth in a saree cover. These sarees

b.      Never wash the silk sarees in soap and water: Silk sarees come with dry-cleaning instructions. The silk material tends to lose its color or shine when it is washed in a soapy solution. That is why dry cleaning is the safest option to keep the silk saree in perfect shape. In case it gets stained, apply the body soap on the stain portion only. The oily stain can be cleaned with talcum powder or glycerin before washing its water.

c.       Try to keep all sarees ironed properly: Keeping saree in an un-ironed state takes away its grace, and it looks a tad untidier. While ironing the saree, do not apply hot iron directly to the fabric. It can burn the saree fabric. Instead, keep the iron at the lowest heat, and then apply it only after putting a soft cloth on the saree. Cotton sarees are the toughest to iron, and these need to be treated with a cloth-stiffener too.

d.      Choose a good wardrobe design that is spacious inside: Of all the ladies’ garments, the sarees occupy the largest space. Therefore, when you are dealing with sarees for the first time, choose spacious wardrobe designs for sarees. There should be space for hangers, and also the shelves should be high enough to give proper aeration to saree material. In want of good air circulation, the sarees tend to become smelly and may gather mold.

Sarees are available in a variety of fabrics. It is suggested that you keep all sarees made in different fabrics separately. Some of these can tend to pill if they come in contact with other types of fabric due to friction. This is something you will surely not want to happen.
