Gal Gadot Hits Herself In the Head With Wonder Woman’s Lasso in BTS Video

Gal Gadot hits herself in the head with Diana’s lasso in a behind-the-scenes video from the set of Wonder Woman 1984. Following her debut as Diana, princess of the Amazons, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gadot starred in director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, which solidified its star as the quintessential, live-action Wonder Woman. As one of Warner Bros./DC’s most popular films, Wonder Woman has had a huge influence on the current state of the DCEU.

Gadot’s fourth outing as Diana Prince, Wonder Woman 1984, was released in theaters and on HBO Max in December 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Set in its eponymous year, the film follows Diana as an employee of the Smithsonian Institution while simultaneously balancing her Wonder Woman duties. An archaeological artifact in the museum, the Dreamstone, begins to start granting wishes, at a price. Despite its lackluster performance at the box office and lukewarm critical reception, Wonder Woman 1984 was the most-watched straight-to-streaming film of the year thanks to the popularity of Gadot’s character and, of course, Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth, which can also help her to fly.

In honor of Wonder Woman 1984’s year anniversary, Gadot took to Instagram to share a BTS video of herself being graceful, strong, and relatable. The clip, captioned “lassoing isn’t as easy as it seems,” shows the actress accidentally hitting herself in the head with Wonder Woman’s lasso. Check it out below:

The above video was likely captured during one of Wonder Woman 1984’s opening action sequences, where audiences get a look at Wonder Woman’s lasso exploits in a crowded and very ’80s-style mall. The sequence sees Diana combat a gang of thieves stealing historical artifacts from a jewelry store’s back room. Given the first Wonder Woman’s focus on WWII, Wonder Woman 1984’s mall sequence is a light-hearted departure ala Superman (1978), where Diana fights crime with the Lasso of Truth. To reiterate: Wonder Woman 1984 mixed reviews were not the fault of the film’s main character or her signature weapon/tool.

Gadot went on to reprise her role as Wonder Woman in this year’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which many consider being both a high and a low point for the DCEU. As is usually the case, Gadot and her lasso shine in Snyder’s Justice League, beginning with a thrilling bank heist sequence. Irrespective of Warner Bros/DC abandoning the Snyder-Verse, Gadot, and Jenkins will return for a third Wonder Woman film set to release in theaters in December 2023.
