Death of Elderly Woman Ruled Homicide

During the summer of 2023, police officers discovered an 84-year-old woman dead at an apartment building on the Upper West Side. Now, her death is being ruled a homicide.

Police received a call about a woman in need of assistance on Monday, July 17 at about 9 p.m. They arrived to 70 West 93rd Street (off Columbus Avenue) to find the Elderly Woman “unconscious and unresponsive.”

EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

The deceased has been identified as 84-year-old Ana Asencio.
