Ribbon Cutting for New Mural at Community Garden

On Wednesday, CITYarts is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Urban Assembly School for Green Careers (UAGC) at 84th and Amsterdam Ave. to celebrate the completion of its 362nd Mural project, Always in Bloom.

The largescale garden mural honors nature and the Upper West Side community. Always in Bloom is a part of CITYarts’ Global HeART Warming program, which raises environmental awareness by inspiring youth to voice their ideas about reducing the speed of climate change and living sustainably. This project has given local youth the opportunity to take an active role in contributing to their neighborhood through art, making a shared green space more welcoming and enjoyable for the community as a whole.

The three-year-long project was done in collaboration with UAGC and NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) to beautify the garden. There will be a program at noon to present certificates of accomplishment to youth participants.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with programming starting at 12 p.m.
