Founded in 2014 by Ben and Dawn Ford, The Seattle Barkery opened its window to the Pacific Northwest. 11k Instagram followers, 41 5-star Yelp reviews, and a little blue truck from Craigslist later, this business found its niche. In Seattle in 2016, dogs outnumbered babies by 20 percent, so this canine craze was the perfect jumping-off point for the couple.
The Fords, who cultivated their canine passion as dog walkers, found that dog treats were full of ingredients that were difficult to pronounce and were getting recalled regularly. Dawn did some research and began crafting what would become the Seattle Barkery.
This food truck, anchored in Seattle, Washington, bakes a wide variety of hand-crafted dog treats. An up-to-date calendar, on the business’ website, shows where the food truck, and subsequent table, are moving to next; a brick and mortar “Treat Bar” is set up inside the Dogwood Play Park and a larger “Treat Trailer” is open at Magnuson Off-Leash Park.
With menu options like chicken hearts, bacon pupcakes, peanut butter, and banana bones, turnkey nuggets, and ice cream sundaes, this food truck is a must-see for those in the Seattle area; there are even CBD-infused wellness dog biscuits. Prices starting at $1.50 make a quick post-dog park stop to the Seattle Barkery an excellent time for your furry family member and your wallet. One of the only trucks of its kind, this pet-friendly menu is available Tuesday-Saturday and includes a smaller menu for humans.
In addition to snacks, the Seattle Barkery also bakes birthday cakes. Each is made to order and served on a frisbee platter. Cakes can be picked up Tuesday-Sunday at either the Treat Bar, Treat Truck, or Treat Trailer. All cakes are made grain-free, with grain-free flour, banana, peanut butter, coconut oil, baking soda, and your dog’s choice of peanut butter glaze or cream cheese frosting. Topped with bacon sprinkles, these cakes are sure to be a success!
