We’re Buying Our Homestead!

This week will certainly go down in history as one of the best weeks ever! Why? Because we’re buying our homestead!

Let me back up and start at the beginning…

So, last month we saw a house that was PERFECT for us! It had just over a half-acre of land, a beautiful house with a new roof on it, and a well and septic too (no paying for water, yay!)!!! We fell in love with the house but were scared to get our hopes up. So, we put in an offer and held our breath…

The offer was accepted the very next day! But with some bad news. The lady who was selling the house didn’t actually own it..? Apparently, it was her sons house, who had passed away earlier last year, and he had willed it to her when he passed. She had been fixing up the house in order to sell it, but she didn’t realize that she needed to put the house in her name in order to sell it..

ANYWAYS, a month later, we finally got the call that she had the house in her name! So, we jumped on the phone and made an appointment for a home inspection this week! The inspection went way better than we could have hoped, the appraisal came back quick, and we were ready to get this house!

Our date was scheduled for the end of this month to close on the house, and we were beyond excited! We had told our realtor that we would love to move in as soon as possible and wouldn’t be apposed to closing sooner, and wow did he deliver! The lady who was selling the house was just as eager to be rid of the house as we were to get it (I can’t say I blame her, as she had spent the last month sorting through her deceased sons possessions) and asked if we would like to close in just two weeks!

Less than two weeks from today, we will have our future homestead! It’s just a small plot of land, but it’s got plenty of room for gardens, and chickens, and fruit trees, and it’ll be OURS! We will have a lot of cleaning to do, as the previas owner was a chain smoker and everything is covered in yellowy gunk because of that. But it’s a small price to pay for our dream home, and it’ll be a labor of love.

Right now, I am excitedly planning what we’re going to get to grow in our new gardens, and my fiancé and my brother are tasked with building a chicken coup the second we get the house! (And yes, we’ve already looked into the chicken laws of our new house and we are allowed to have them.)

There will be more pictures to come and more stuff to tell you guys as we fix up this beautiful home and FINALLY start our homesteading journey!

For now, remember to smile, have an amazing day, and don’t be afraid to chase your dreams. The universe is always listening and sending you exactly what you need!

If you’re new to my blog, please subscribe and save it to your favorites bar! And if you’ve been following my journey for a while, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart (and the top, and the middle). It has taken us a long time to get here, and years of hard work, but we finally have someplace to start, and land cultivate. I love all of my readers, and I hope that you share in the celebration of this new chapter as well, because you are just as much a part of this as I am.
