Asking my Best Friends to be my Maids of Honors

~

Good morning everyone! So there has been a LOT of Wedding planning going on since my last post: Morning Announcement: I’m Engaged!

And first thing was first, I couldn’t do any wedding planning without asking my two best friends to be my maids of honor! Now, quick disclaimer… My fiancé and I are not having a ‘traditional’ wedding. We aren’t walking down any isle and kissing in front of all of our family and friends, there will be no bridesmaids in matching dresses, and there will certainly be no frilly white ribbons ANYWHERE! That’s just not us.

Instead, we are just taking a quick trip to the courthouse to get married, and then having a small reception afterword’s with close family and friends. Oh yeah, and the theme of our wedding reception? Celtic/Viking/Renascence in a park in the woods. How fun right!?

Okay, so onto how I had asked my maids of honor to be; my maids of honor!

First thing I did was make cute little cards. It started out with me just doodling on paper, as one does when they are excited for something coming up, and it turned into a page a cute little card that I could use to pop the question..

Next I wrote a little promise for them on the inside.

After making the card, the girls had voiced their concerns about what they would need to do (because it was obvious I was going to ask them) as my bridesmaids/maid of honor. (They were expecting bridesmaids, not to be upgraded to maid of honors.) So the next thing I had to do was write out a little paper explaining their ‘duties’ so that they knew what was expected of them.

After all of the ‘duties’ were written down, next came the fun part! Shopping! I had looked online for cute little baskets for maids of honors, but they were all super expensive, impersonal, and about thirty bucks for five items! So I figured, for thirty bucks, I could make my own! So I went to the store and put together a cute little basket of goodies for the girls in their favorite colors.

The items were all chosen perfectly (and I love that they match in everything except color)! I had gotten a notebook and pens so that they could keep notes for Wedding Planning. The lotion, facemask, candles, and perfume were all for relaxing after a stressful day, the snacks were for fun, and the stress ball was so that they could strangle that instead of something/one else if they got overwhelmed.

On one of my days off, I went and delivered it to the girls’ house while they were at work, and I got an excited message back from both of them saying ‘YES’!

That’s it for today guys, I’m off to work here in a minute.. But remember to Smile, have an amazing day, and make a celebration out of everything!

COMMENT BELLOW! How did you ask your Wedding Party to be part of your wedding party? Did you even have a wedding party? What was your wedding like? (Secretly brings out notepad to make notes for my wedding..)
