Despite there being a speedy emphasis on the current Development of a vaccine of COVID-19 or the Coronavirus as it is also known, the process for developing vaccines and safe treatment can be lengthy to ensure that the proposed cure is reliable. This was not always the case when the first vaccines for smallpox were being created but we have learnt that for maximum efficacy a series of monitored trials should be conducted with volunteer subjects. It is these Adaptive Phase 1 Clinical Studies that are conducted by companies such as richmondpharmacology that can make all the difference.

The emergency and immediate demand for a treatment to tackle COVID-19, or the Coronavirus, has seen a rapid shortening of this process. It shows that medical studies can indeed be adaptive when the needs require it. You can appreciate that the nature of COVID, or the Coronavius, was that the world was affected by it. Therefore the kudos and the pressure to be the first nation or company to produce a vaccine was huge.

However this in no way means that corners were cut or that the due process was ignored. In reality, medical practitioners and virologists had been saying for many years beforehand that we may be due to such an outbreak and it was only a matter of time before one took. As dangerous as COVID-19, or the Coronavirus, is, it has not been as bad as others. For example, it seems to not affect children as badly in most cases.
