What is a whipped sugar scrub?

A whipped sugar scrub is very similar to a traditional body scrub, but it uses a solid oil or butter that has been whipped as the base. Sugar is mixed in, and it’s like a magical body scrub/body butter combo that somehow feels more luxurious than a traditional scrub.

What does whipped sugar scrub do?

(EDIT) Just like any homemade body scrub, a whipped sugar scrub provides essential exfoliating and moisturizing properties that are GREAT for your skin! Exfoliating sluffs away the top layer of dead skin and keeps it healthy, soft, and glowing.

How do you use whipped sugar body scrub?

Use this once a week on your hands or body but not your face.  You can store it on the counter.

Very purposely there is no actual pumpkin in this Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub recipe. This is to keep the scrub from spoiling. The orange color of the scrub is obtained with gel food coloring.

(EDIT)

  1. Rinse your skin in warm water.
  2. Put a small amount of body scrub in your hand.
  3. Gently rub it on your skin in small circular motions, using your hand or an exfoliating glove.
  4. Scrub your skin gently for no longer than 30 seconds.
  5. Rinse your skin liberally with lukewarm water.

Supplies:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup solid coconut oil
  • ¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 30 drops pumpkin pie fragrance oil https://www.amazon.com/Pumpkin-Pie-Fragrance-Oil-Premium/dp/B0155G65GQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?pd_rd_w=vm3I1&pf_rd_p=bc4faf6b-63fa-47cb-af0d-6aca62c67af2&pf_rd_r=WB8YEBZFYG88P2H59DG2&pd_rd_r=62ebfcd2-cac8-45b0-b0f0-d4e52c03b1df&pd_rd_wg=hHKvH&pd_rd_i=B0155G65GQ&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_1_1_t&linkCode=sl1&tag=melmay-20&linkId=6859a18ba4795260133821ea39a781cf&language=en_US

Directions:

  1. Add the sugar and coconut oil to a large bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer.
  2. Beat on high for about one minute until a paste-like texture forms.
  3. Add the pumpkin pie spice and fragrance oil.
  4. Beat on high for 3-5 minutes, until you have a fluffy whipped mixture.
  5. Store in an airtight jar or container.

FAQs

How long does whipped sugar scrub last?

(EDIT) In general, most homemade sugar scrubs will last around 6 months. The most important tip is to keep the lid on the jar as much as possible. This will help stave off the carrier oil going rancid.

Should I use body scrub before or after bathing?

(EDIT) The straightforward answer is after. While people have often tried using it before, it is not with the best results. Soap tends to clean out dead skin cells, debris, dirt, and oils, which means they don’t really have much to do after a body scrub. In fact, they act as a base to prepare the body for a body scrub.

Do you use body scrub on wet or dry skin?

(EDIT) If the base is more foamy or gel-like, wet the skin first. If the base is oil like that of an oil cleanser, it’ll work better on dry skin because water repels oil.” This, it’s worth noting, holds true for both face and body exfoliation, so before you do either, be sure to check your ingredients list.

Will whipped sugar scrub melt?

(EDIT)  If a Sugar Scrub melts, the oil may separate out a bit. Give it a good mix and place it in the refrigerator for about 10 to 15 minutes.
