Free Easter Scavenger Hunt Clues

These free printable Easter scavenger hunt cards include 16 unique Easter scavenger hunt clues to create an EPIC hunt that your kids will talk about for years to come! Just print out the Easter scavenger hunt riddles and hide them around the house. Let the hunt begin!

When my kids were really little, we did simple Easter egg hunts – you know, the open-ended free-for-all that many people do.

That was great for a couple of years, but then we started running into problems. One kid would find more than the others. Or we (ok, I) would forget how many Easter eggs were hidden and we wouldn’t find them all but wouldn’t realize it.

Those kinds of things.

But then a few years ago, I decided to change things up and try doing an Easter Scavenger Hunt INSTEAD of a traditional Easter egg hunt.

And wow, did that open up all kinds of new possibilities I never thought of before!

If you’ve never done scavenger hunts before, they’re basically treasure hunts with helpful clues guiding the hunter to find treasure at the end.

It’s the perfect way to lead kids to Easter eggs, Easter baskets, or any other Easter surprise of your choosing!

How Do Scavenger Hunts Work?

It depends.

On how you want to do it. There are two basic ways to run a scavenger hunt:

  • seek and find a checklist of items
  • lead you from one place to another, usually collecting a new clue and/or an item at each location.

I’ve tried them both ways and usually vary it up each year to keep the kids guessing 😉

Ideas For How To Use This Easter Scavenger Hunt

This year, I decided to create a printable Easter scavenger hunt to share with you! It’s full of cute rhymes and fun clues to make the kids think and solve riddles – while being very motivated to get to the next step in the journey.

Here are ideas for ways to use these Easter scavenger hunt clues:

  • use the clues as a treasure hunt to lead your kids to the treasure at the end (their Easter basket is a GREAT final prize, but you could use others too).
  • hide eggs at each location with a new clue (and a surprise) inside.
  • give them an empty Easter basket and have them fill it up with things they find on their hunt.
  • create a final prize that you can bring together in pieces and leave a piece at each clue location along with another clue.

Set-Up Your Easter Scavenger Hunt

  1. Print off the clue cards (grab them here)
  2. Hide the 2nd clue according to the details on the 1st clue.
  3. Hide all of the clue cards based on the previous clue hints until you are left with the last one (the order of the cards doesn’t matter).
  4. Want to make the scavenger hunt longer? Add extra cards of your own before the last clue OR take the hunt outside with this set of 16 outdoor cards!
  5. Ready to start the hunt? Just hand the first clue to your kids!

How To Use These Cards With Multiple Kids

I recommend:

  • Assigning each child their own specific color of Easter eggs.
  • Mix up the order of the clues.
  • Instruct your kids to ONLY pick up eggs in their own color and leave the rest alone.
  • Sit back and have fun watching them race to be the first one to find their prize!

PRO TIP: If there is a card that doesn’t apply to you, just remove it from the set. I tried to keep the locations as broad as possible so they would fit any home.

How To Make This Indoor Easter Scavenger Hunt Harder

If you have older kids and want to use these clues to make them harder, you can make the hiding spots a little trickier.

For example, instead of placing the clue or prize in the washing machine, you can place it inside the machine or behind or beside the machine. But for younger kids you can place it in front of the machine.

The whole family will have fun with this silly Easter scavenger hunt, and it’s guaranteed to add some joy and excitement to your Easter morning! My family absolutely loved it!
