My grandmother was a special lady and she LOVED when springtime rolled around – and she was big on celebrating the Easter holiday.

Easter is a springtime celebration recognizing the changing of the seasons and new beginnings for all of us.

It is now that we start to see nicer weather, blooming flowers, longer days, and rain showers with gorgeous rainbows to show us hope and the promise of a new day.

My grandmother was a great cook. She made the best…everything! (Everyone says that about their grandmother, right!?!?)

My grandma used to say ‘Eat The Rainbow’ which meant fruits and vegetables are good for you and you need to eat them. 😂 So she would make it fun for us.

Easter Fruit Kabobs is an easy way to get kids to enjoy eating the rainbow! Let them pick their favorite fruit and ‘go to town,’ so to speak, to create their own unique kabob with all the colors of the rainbow.

Ingredients Needed For Easter Fruit Kabobs Recipe

  • Red Grapes – whole and seedless
  • Blueberries – whole
  • Green Grapes – whole and seedless
  • Pineapple Chunks – fresh or canned
  • Cantaloupe – cut into chunks
  • Strawberries – tops cut off and cut in half or left whole
  • Peeps – any color or assorted colors
  • Wooden Skewers

How To Make Easter Fruit Kabobs With Peeps

Here’s how to put together these fun, colorful, and festive Easter fruit kabobs!

Step 1

Begin by washing the grapes, blueberries, and strawberries and place them into bowls.

Step 2

Cut up the cantaloupe and drain the can of pineapple chunks.

Step 3

Put the fruit on the wooden skewer in the order you desire.

Step 4

Finish up by putting a peep on the top of the skewer.

Easter Fruit Kabobs Recipe Notes And Tips

  • If you decide to use canned pineapple chunks, just be sure to thoroughly drain them before adding them to the skewer.
  • It is important to wet the top inch or two of the skewer before putting on the Peep. This will help the Peep to slide on easily without getting stuck on the skewer before you get it in the place where you want it.
  • Thoroughly wash and dry the grapes, strawberries, and blueberries before assembling the skewers.
  • Putting the bananas in the refrigerator to chill will make them firmer and easier to slice and slide on the skewer.

Variations Of Easter Fruit Kabobs To Try

  • Chick Peeps will be just as adorable on the top as the Bunny Peeps so use what makes you happy.
  • Add a yummy cream cheese dipping sauce, yogurt, fruit dip, whipped cream, or pudding to the serving plate with the Easter Fruit Kabobs. YUM!
  • Change up the order that you put the fruit on the skewer. There are NO rules so just have fun and make them exactly the way you want.
  • As if these fruit kabobs aren’t cute enough, why not cut the strawberries in the shape of a heart. Adorable, right!?!?

How far in advance can I make my Easter Fruit Kabobs prior to serving?

Ideally, you would want to serve them immediately after assembly. However, if you store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator they will stay fresh for up to 10 – 12 hours.

Can I freeze these Easter Fruit Kabobs?

I would not recommend freezing these kabobs. The thawing process would likely cause the fruit to become watery and change the texture of the fruit.

What other fruit substitutions can I make?

Most definitely!!! 🙂 Kiwis and blackberries, mangos, mandarins, and honeydew would be delicious additions to these adorable kabobs.

Bananas, pears, and apples are also fav fruits with kids and would be perfect on these Easter Fruit Kabobs. Just keep in mind that these fruits will start to turn brown quickly so should be served immediately.

How do I keep the fruit from turning brown?

Squeeze a little lemon juice over the fruits like apples, bananas, or pears that are likely to turn brown once they have been peeled and cut. You can squeeze the juice on before or after you place them on the skewer.

How long will my Easter Fruit Kabobs keep in the refrigerator?

You can store the kabobs in the refrigerator for up to 2 – 3 days if stored in an air-tight, covered container.

Keep in mind that the moisture from the fruit may begin to cause the Peeps to ‘dissolve’ but they are still just as yummy. 😉
