Easter Brownies Decorated As Easter Eggs

These splendidly decorated, fudgy, and rich Easter egg Easter Brownies are the ideal addition to your holiday dinner and family gathering.

Easter is quickly approaching and it is one of those holidays that brings back so many wonderful childhood memories.

A day or two before Easter, we boiled oodles of eggs then we began to color all of those eggs. LOL

Then on Easter morning, an adult would sneak outside while the rest of us were getting ready for church and ‘hide’ them in the front yard. It didn’t matter that it was just my sister and I hunting eggs while my parents and grandmother looked on.

It was something we looked forward to EVERY single year.

I am certain that many rituals and traditions have changed since I was a kid but the wonderment and joy of Easter still remains.

Start a new tradition with your kids in the kitchen as you prepare your Easter meal and let them be a part of decorating not only the hard-boiled eggs but these scrumptious Easter Egg Brownies too.

Isn’t that what life and family are all about…..making memories and sharing with the people you love most?

Easter Brownies Recipe Notes And Tips

  • Use any size cookie cutter you choose, just keep in mind that if you use a smaller one it may be a little harder to decorate and a bigger cutter will cut down on the number you brownies the recipe will yield.
  • The no-fail way to remove brownies from the baking sheet is to line the baking sheet with aluminum foil. Allow 2 inches excess foil on all sides of the baking sheet. Spray the aluminum foil with cooking spray prior to pouring the batter. Bake, allow to cool completely and place baking sheet in freezer for about 30 minutes. Now remove from the pan by lifting up with the excess foil. VOILA!!! Cutting the brownies with the cutter will be even easier now too with the slightly frozen brownies.
  • After you have cut out the brownie eggs, there will be those delicious little leftover pieces that will make a delicious topping for an ice cream sundae. 😉

Variations Of Easter Brownies To Try

  • Change up the shape of the cookie cutter by making a cross, bunnies, chicks, flowers or butterfly in addition to or in place of the egg shape.
  • Nuts add a delicious texture and flavor to brownies so why not add in some walnuts, pecans, pistachios or macadamia nuts.
  • Add in some white chocolate chips to the batter before baking to give the brownies a little more dimension and a more yummy chocolate goodness.
  • Bring in a little extra zing to your brownies by adding in some fresh or frozen fruit such as strawberries, blueberries or raspberries.

FAQs

Here are some common questions readers ask about our Easter Brownies recipe. If you don’t see your question below, please leave it in the comments so I can answer it!

How long will my Easter Brownies stay fresh?

These brownies will stay fresh at room temperature for 3 – 4 days if stored in an air-tight container.

You can keep them in the refrigerator if you would like in an air-tight container or storage bag for 5 – 6 days….that is if they last that long. 😉

Can I freeze these Easter Brownies?

You can freeze these frosted brownies, however, you do run the risk of the frosting retaining extra moisture and causing the colors to run together a bit during the thawing process.

If you decide to go ahead and freeze them, I would suggest wrapping each egg brownie individually in plastic wrap and then placing them in an air-tight, freezer-safe container. They can stay frozen for up to 1 month.

Allow the brownies to thaw at room temperature once you remove them from the freezer.

Can I make these Easter Brownies ahead of time?

The brownies can definitely be made ahead of time. You can make them the day before or several days ahead and place them in the freezer until you are ready to that and decorate.

I would recommend that you decorate the brownies within 2 – 3 hours of plating and serving.
